It's getting exciting ...

The Escape2Create retreat is very soon ... like 37 days and 6 hours!

Amanda and I have been working on the class presentations today ... well I watched and Amanda worked!!

All the kit supplies are rolling in and we will be able to pack them soon!

The donations have exceded our expectations and the goodie bags are goodie goodie!!

I am getting excited!!
My class sneak peek ...

Ruth's Quilt for Hannah ...

On Sunday night I was sitting on the lounge with Hannah stitching this little block ...

She started looking through the small pile of blocks that I had already done and saying that she really like them!

Then I looked through them and found one I hadn't stitched which said "stitched in 2005"!!! Can you believe that ... 5 years ago I started this project!! Tut tut!!

So even though I started it before she was born I told her that I would make her the quilt!

I figured it was about time that I finished the whole project!!

So yesterday I finally found the already cut up fabric ... see I did have good intentions!!

Although a few strips hadn't been cut yet and I didn't have quite enough fabric so off to the stash to find a few more pinks. This quilt is for Hannah, a lover of pink!!
Then I sat done and sewed. I got half of the quilt top together and then it was time to get tea ready!

I am about half way through the stitcheries. So half way done altogether!

Although Hannah thought that I was going to have the quilt on her bed last night!!

The pattern is from this book by Leanne Beasley and the quilt is shown on the cover.

This year I really want to get a bit more sewing done. When I was looking for the extra fabric yesterday I discovered that I have a number of projects that I could work on this year and probably through until 2020!!!

I think I might get this quilt professionally quilted in a stipple. I have made it one strip longer so it is better for her bed. I will consult the quilting gals on Thursday!!

Little fishy ...

For Sue's February Sketch over at Escape2Create.

Friday & Saturday...

Friday was Lachlan's 7th birthday!!

He woke up still not 100% after having a day off school on Thursday but headed off. I had to collect him early.

He had 3 friends for a sleepover which was very exciting for him!! We had tea and a cake and then they had a late night and an early rise!!
About the cake ... on the way home after the early school pick up I asked him about the cake decoration ... he said "what about a dog?" ... knowing this would really stretch my artistic ability (as I have none!!) I asked him for another idea ... "what about red and blue and white ?" he said ... I thought oh that's easy ... then I clicked ... The Western Bulldogs ... a dog ... the colours!! So I printed off a guernsey and did strips of coloured icing and found red, white & blue candles!
Lots of fun!

Saturday Hannah had her second swimming lesson which she loved ... although I wasn't sure if she would go in as I hadn't found her bubble to wear ... anyway after some convincing she thoroughly enjoyed the lesson!!

Then we loaded up and headed for Coffin Bay to take the boat on its first outing since we picked it up on Tuesday!!

Lachlan got the prize for first fish landed in the boat!
This little rascal took over fishing and was getting the good ones (Whiting!!) so we got enough for our tea and headed home!

An enjoyable afternoon and every thing ran fairly smoothly!!

what your doing matters ...

WOW ... just watched this over at Amanda's blog ... sensational and very moving!

Blueberry muffins ...

I bought some cute muffin papers and found a Donna Hay recipe ... no-fail berry muffins in her latest emailed monthly newsletter so thought last night I'd give them a try.

I only used blueberries.

So far the vote is ... yum!

The recipe ...

2 cups (300g) SR flour, sifted
1 cup (220g)caster sugar
1 1/4 cups sour cream
2 eggs
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 1/4 cups (190g) mixed berries

Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Mix flour & sugar. Whisk together sour cream, eggs & oil and stir through flour mixture. Fold through berries & spoon into 12 lightly greased 1/2 cup capacity (125ml) muffin tins.

Bake for 20 - 25 minutes or until cooked when tested with a skewer.

Dust with icing sugar to serve.

Makes 12 (with the smaller paper pans I think I got 30 mini muffins).

Hannah's haircuts ...

Hannah has a very exclusive arrangement with her stylist.

When I have a sewing day I arrange the said stylist to do the do ...

This venue is ever changing and this was the outdoor salon!!

water babe ...

I never thought ...
